Clear Lines for Busy Lots
Parking lot striping keeps a lot organized: where to park, where to walk, which way to drive. In the Valley sun, paint fades and chalks, and every sealcoat or overlay wipes out the old lines. We restripe existing layouts and lay out new ones for businesses, churches, schools, ag offices and multifamily properties in Hanford and nearby towns.
Accessible spaces
The U.S. Department of Justice explains that restriping a lot triggers the 2010 ADA Standards for accessible parking. Those standards set how many accessible stalls a lot needs, how many must be van-accessible (at least one in six), and the dimensions. A car stall is 96 inches wide with a 60-inch aisle; a van stall is 132 inches with a 60-inch aisle, or 96 inches with a 96-inch aisle. We lay out stalls to those dimensions. California has additional accessibility rules, and owners should confirm their site meets them.
What we paint
- Standard and compact stalls
- Accessible stalls, aisles and symbols
- Arrows, stop bars and crosswalks
- Fire lanes and red curbs where required
- Loading and no-parking zones
New layouts
After a lot is paved or resurfaced, the layout can be improved: more stalls, wider aisles for trucks, better flow. HomeGuide notes a new layout runs 20 to 50 percent more than restriping. We can match the old layout or propose a new one.
Timing
Striping needs dry pavement. New asphalt should set and fresh sealcoat should cure first. In summer we stripe early or late; in winter we wait for dry, clear days.
Restriping after sealcoat
A sealcoat covers all existing lines, so restriping always follows. We can schedule sealing and striping together so the lot is closed only once. The sealer must cure before paint goes on, usually by the next day in warm, dry weather.
Keeping lines visible in the Valley
Sun and heat fade traffic paint, and dust dulls it. Lots with heavy traffic may need restriping every year or two. Restriping before lines disappear completely is quicker and cheaper than laying out a lot from scratch.
Small lots
Even a small lot with a few stalls needs clear lines and at least one accessible space. We stripe small lots for churches, shops and offices, often in under an hour of paint time.
Wheel stops and signs
Along with paint, many lots need wheel stops, which keep cars from overhanging sidewalks, and accessible parking signs mounted at the right height. The 2010 ADA Standards set the bottom of accessible signs at least 60 inches above the ground. We can include sign and wheel stop work in the striping quote.

Parking Lot Striping Questions
How often should we restripe?
Every couple of years for most lots, and after every sealcoat or overlay.
How many accessible stalls do we need?
It depends on total stalls under the 2010 ADA Standards table, with at least one in six van-accessible. We count and show you.
Can you stripe after hours?
Yes, when the site allows, so the lot stays open during business hours.
Do you paint fire lanes?
Yes, to the marking the fire department or your site plan requires.
What paint do you use?
Traffic paint made for asphalt, applied on dry pavement. It dries quickly so the lot reopens the same day.
Can you add EV charging stalls?
Yes, we can stripe and mark EV stalls as part of a new layout.
Can you stripe a lot the same day it is sealed?
Usually the next day, once the sealer has cured. In warm, dry weather it can sometimes be the same day.
